A practical workflow looks like this: create one folder per property (for example a folder named after the MLS number or street address), then upload that listing's shoot in a single batch. Each upload is three calls — POST /v1/files/{folderId} returns a presigned URL and an id per file, you PUT the JPEG bytes straight to that URL, then POST /v1/files/confirm-upload with {ids:[...]} to publish.

The auth header is your raw API key, no Bearer prefix, which keeps a photographer's bulk-uploader script trivially short. Because URLs are permanent, you can paste them straight into your MLS feed, a Zillow/Realtor syndication payload, or the agent's own listing page, and they keep resolving for the life of the listing and beyond. For shoots you don't want public yet — pocket listings, pre-market staging, owner-only galleries — keep the folder's files private and hand out signed URLs that expire, so a preview link you text to a seller doesn't leak to the open web. files.link does not transform images on the fly the way Cloudinary does, so the recommended pattern is to export your web-resolution and thumbnail derivatives from Lightroom or your editing pipeline and upload each size as its own file; you get predictable, cacheable URLs without a per-transformation bill.

Compared to dumping a shoot in Dropbox, you get real CDN edges and direct-embeddable links instead of share pages that rate-limit hot listings. Compared to wiring up a storage bucket plus a separate CDN distribution yourself, you skip the distribution config, origin access identity, and cache-invalidation plumbing entirely. Billing is prepaid credits drawn down by what you actually store and serve, which suits the seasonal, listing-by-listing rhythm of a brokerage far better than a flat monthly transformation tier.
