Everything is encrypted at rest, and every transfer runs over TLS. Third, cost-aware long-term retention: contracts you must keep for years but rarely touch belong in the cold storage tier, which holds them durably at a lower cost than everyday storage, while the documents your team actually opens stay in standard storage for instant retrieval. Organize by matter, counterparty, entity, or contract type using projects and folders so e-discovery or a compliance review becomes a scoped folder fetch instead of a hunt across shared drives.

Uploads automate cleanly from a contract-lifecycle or e-signature workflow: when a DocuSign or similar envelope completes, take the executed PDF and push it through the three-call upload — POST /v1/files/{folderId}, PUT the document, POST /v1/files/confirm-upload — then record the permanent link on the matter so the file and the record stay bound together.
