File hosting

File hosting is a service that stores your files and serves them over the internet at a URL, so you can share or embed them without running your own server. It ranges from simple link-sharing tools to developer platforms with upload APIs, access control, and CDN-backed delivery.

At its simplest, file hosting means "upload a file, get a link." That link can be shared, embedded in a web page, or referenced from an app. The host handles storage durability, the web server, and bandwidth so you don't have to stand up infrastructure for every asset.

Developer-focused file hosting goes further: an upload API, programmatic access keys, per-file privacy controls, signed links for private content, and a CDN so files load fast worldwide. The line between 'file hosting' and 'object storage with delivery' blurs at this end of the spectrum.
